It’s Valentine’s Day today and to help spread the love we thought we’d list some of our favourite, most-recent Australian music collaborations.
1. Vera Blue and Nick Littlemore
Celia Pavey (Vera Blue) and Nick Littlemore (Empire Of The Sun) recently joined forces to create The 2 Leaves Project. Their debut folk release ‘Every Ocean Tells A Story’ was released in November, under Nick’s new label ‘Littlemore Music’, and was recorded over the last year. Listen to the album here.
2. Tash Sultana and Matt Corby
Last month Tash Sultana shared a photo of herself and Matt Corby in the studio together. In an interview with triple j, Tash told listeners “We just did straight sessions every night, for nights and nights and nights in a row – just jammed”. Although no music has been released yet, we know the pair are definitely creating some magic.
3. Sam Cromack and The Cactus Channel
Sam Cromack (Ball Park Music) has teamed up with The Cactus Channel to write and record a six-track EP, which Cromack has described as “some of the moodiest and most chilled-out music I’ve ever made”. The EP is due to be released sometime in April, with a mini-tour to follow. ‘Sorry Hills’ is the first taste of this collaboration.
4. In Hearts Wake and Northlane
UNFD label mates In Hearts Wake and Northlane surprised fans last year when they released their collaborative EP ‘Equinox’. The EP was almost three years in the making and was recorded in secret with producer Will Putney. The three tracks are designed to be played as one full song, and can be listened to below.
